At the highest level, the Import Expo is “not a general exhibition”. It is a major measure for China to firmly support trade liberalization and open its market to the world. It will set up a new platform for all parties to enter the Chinese market.

Everyone has seen a lot in the Expo. What is the difference of this CIIE ?

Most of the major fairs in the world trade are import and export integrated. This CIIE is different. It is the world’s first import-oriented theme and the only national-level large-scale fair that requires 100% of oversea exporters.

Compared with the overseas products of the general exposition, which account for about 30%, the Import Expo strictly enforces the principle of “double outside the country”:

1. Exhibitors must be overseas enterprises, and goods must be 100% from overseas.

2. Chinese companies are mainly involved in procurement and trading, and are truly “imports”.

Some scholars have analyzed that its historical significance is no less than the first export trade fair held by China in Guangzhou 60 years ago. This import fair will undoubtedly further promote the export of goods from all over the world to China.

The two marked fairs are in the opposite direction, indicating that China has changed from a country that emphasizes exports to a country that emphasizes imports.

From the time point of view, this year is the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up, and the import fair will become a landmark project for China to promote a new round of high-level opening up.

During the import fair, the “Hongqiao International Trade Forum” will be comparable to the “G20”, with only a dozen guest countries. The Import Expo is called the “three in one” of the World Expo, the Canton Fair and the Boao Forum.

According to local media reports in Shanghai, due to tight time and heavy tasks, Shanghai Overseas Service (one of the exhibition service providers) launched more than 8,000 party members and group organizations to participate in the import fair. Currently, it is recommended to sign 8 customers.

Up to now, more than 2,800 high-quality enterprises in more than 130 countries and regions have signed up to participate in corporate business exhibitions, with a total exhibition area of ​​270,000 square meters. It is expected that more than 150,000 buyers from home and abroad will attend the conference to negotiate purchases.

In addition, more than 80 countries and international organizations have confirmed their participation in the national exhibition. It is expected that the number of foreign politicians, international organizations and government officials at the vice-ministerial level will reach hundreds.
